Winter Melon and Carp Soup
Ingredients
- Winter melon 200g (with peel)
- One carp (or crucian carp)
- Ginger, scallion, and a little salt
Principle
Winter melon clears heat and promotes urination; carp strengthens the spleen and drains water. Simmered together, the soup clears heat, resolves toxins, and dispels dampness—suited to cirrhosis with dry mouth, bitter taste, abdominal distension, and oily facial skin.
Effects & uses
For cirrhosis with mild internal water retention—dry bitter mouth and bloating; also used as adjunct food care in icteric hepatitis (syndrome differentiation required).
Method
- Wash and cube winter melon; clean the fish.
- Simmer together with ginger, scallion, and adequate water.
- Cook about 30 minutes; season lightly with salt.
How to use
- Eat the soup with fish and melon as part of a meal.
Caution
Use with caution in pre-hepatic encephalopathy or established encephalopathy (protein may need restriction). Low salt is essential. Strict alcohol abstinence is required. A daily food-care recipe; not a substitute for medication.
