Ingredients

  • Chrysanthemum 15g
  • Japonica rice 100g

Principle

Chrysanthemum is slightly cold, bitter-sweet, enters lung and liver; clears heat, disperses wind, and brightens the liver. Rice strengthens the spleen and harmonizes the stomach. Congee targets liver yang rising hypertension by clearing liver heat and subduing yang.

Effects & uses

For liver yang rising hypertension with dizziness, irritable insomnia, bitter taste, tinnitus, flushed face and red eyes (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Remove stems from chrysanthemum and grind to powder.
  2. Cook rice in water, bring to a boil then simmer gently.
  3. When the congee is nearly done, stir in chrysanthemum powder and cook briefly.

How to use

  • Eat warm, once or twice daily.

Caution

Deficient cold spleen-stomach should not eat heavily. Stop during wind-cold common cold. Daily food-care only; not a substitute for medication.
