  • Chinese chives (jiucai) 100 g

Principle

Shrimp is sweet-warm and tonifies kidney yang; chives warm yang and the lower body; goji nourishes liver–kidney and brightens the eyes. Together they tonify yin and yang (syndrome differentiation required).

Effects & uses

Adjunct for dual kidney yin–yang deficiency with impotence, seminal loss, premature ejaculation, weak ejaculation, sore weak back/knees, cold hands and feet (syndrome differentiation required). Debate on chive leaves as ‘yang tonic’—see [chive & shrimp stir-fry](/remedies/nanke-jiucai-chao-xianxia/) notes. Not a substitute for behavioral training or standard care.

Method

  1. Clean shrimp; cut chives; soak goji.
  2. Stir-fry ginger, then shrimp; add wine; add goji and soaking liquid; simmer ~5 minutes; add chives and salt over high heat.

How to use

  • With meals, about 2–3 times per week.

Caution

Limit if yang hyperactivity, yin deficiency with heat, sores, or eye disease (chives and shrimp are ‘trigger’ foods). Food-care only.
