Ingredients

  • Dandelion 15–25g
  • Licorice root 3g
  • Honey to taste (optional)

Principle

Dandelion clears heat, detoxifies, reduces swelling, and dissipates nodules; licorice tonifies spleen qi, clears heat and detoxifies, and harmonizes other herbs. Licorice’s sweet, moderating nature can soften dandelion’s cold property and reduce stomach irritation, working together to clear heat, support the liver, and benefit the gallbladder.

Effects & uses

Suitable as a daily tea when liver-gallbladder heat tendency is present—bitter taste, yellowish urine, dry eyes; traditional and clinical sources also describe adjunct use in hepatitis and cholecystitis (syndrome differentiation required). Not a substitute for medication.

Method

  1. Wash dandelion and licorice; place in a pot.
  2. Add 500 mL water; boil 10 minutes.
  3. Strain; honey may be added for flavor.

How to use

  • Drink warm in place of tea, 1 dose per day, divided into 2–3 servings. For daily care, start with dandelion 15g and licorice 3g.

Caution

Not suitable for spleen-stomach deficiency-cold or loose stools. Long-term large doses of licorice require caution (possible edema, elevated blood pressure, etc.). Strict alcohol abstinence is required. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for standard medical care.
