Ingredients

  • Fatty and lean yellow beef 500g (some sources list 2000g—pending verification)
  • White radish 100g
  • Scallion 2 sections
  • Salt, cooking wine, and vegetable oil to taste

Principle

Beef tonifies spleen and stomach, benefits qi and blood, strengthens sinews and bones, and is rich in protein; white radish promotes urination. The soup tonifies spleen-stomach and drains dampness, suitable for early ascites in cirrhosis with spleen-stomach weakness.

Effects & uses

Suitable for early cirrhotic ascites with spleen-stomach weakness and abdominal distension (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Wash beef, cut into chunks; cut radish into rolling wedges.
  2. Stir-fry beef, add wine and braise, then transfer to a clay pot with water and simmer slowly about 3 hours.
  3. Add radish and a little salt; simmer 1 hour until tender.

How to use

  • Take with meals, or on an empty stomach before meals.

Caution

Use with caution in hepatic encephalopathy (beef is high in protein). Keep salt low. Avoid if allergic to beef or radish. Strict alcohol abstinence. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
