Notoginseng and Salvia Congee
Ingredients
- Notoginseng (sanqi) 3g
- Salvia (danshen) 10g
- Rice 50g
Principle
Notoginseng activates blood, resolves stasis, unblocks collaterals, and relieves pain; salvia nourishes blood, activates blood, dispels stasis, and generates the new. Together they activate blood, resolve stasis, and unblock meridians—suited when blood stasis obstructing collaterals is clear (syndrome differentiation required).
Effects & uses
Suitable for numbness and stabbing pain in limbs, purple tongue with stasis spots; soft congee texture suits those with poor swallowing (adjust texture per medical advice). Does not replace antiplatelet agents, statins, secondary prevention, or rehabilitation training.
Method
- Decoct notoginseng and salvia 20 minutes; strain; cook rice into congee with the decoction.
How to use
- One bowl daily, eaten warm.
Caution
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use with caution during menstruation. Consult a physician if taking anticoagulants. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
