Ingredients

  • Coix seed (yiyiren) 30g
  • Adzuki beans 15g
  • Rock sugar small amount (optional)

Principle

Coix strengthens spleen and percolates damp; adzuki promotes urination and reduces swelling. When phlegm-damp obstructs the middle, turbid phlegm veils the clear orifices—the pair strengthens spleen, drains damp, transforms phlegm, and lowers turbidity.

Effects & uses

Suitable for phlegm-damp middle obstruction vertigo with chest oppression, nausea, head heavy as if wrapped, white greasy coating—often from greasy diet (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Rinse coix and adzuki; soak 2 hours; simmer until soft; use less or no sugar if damp is heavy.

How to use

  • Drink soup and eat beans, 3–4 times per week.

Caution

Not for excessive use with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold or loose stools. Use coix cautiously in pregnancy. Not a substitute for medication.
