Ingredients

  • Corn silk 60g
  • Lotus plumule (lianxin) 5g

Principle

Corn silk is neutral and sweet, promotes urination and reduces swelling, drains heat and calms liver, with some role in hypertension and atherosclerosis prevention; lotus plumule dilates peripheral vessels and may lower blood pressure, with heat-clearing and spirit-calming effects. Decocted as tea for heat clearing, calming, and adjunct blood-pressure support.

Effects & uses

Suitable for hypertension with neurasthenia—elevated pressure, irritability, insomnia, difficult urination (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Wash corn silk and lotus plumule.
  2. Decoct together about 15 minutes.
  3. Strain and drink as tea.

How to use

  • One dose daily as tea.

Caution

Not for hypotension or spleen-stomach deficiency-cold. Corn silk promotes urination—use cautiously with yin deficiency and fluid insufficiency. Daily dietary prescription; not a substitute for medication.
