Ingredients

  • Adzuki bean (chixiaodou) 50g
  • Carp 1 (about 400g)
  • Ginger and scallion as needed

Principle

Adzuki bean drains dampness, promotes urination, and resolves toxins; carp strengthens the spleen, drains water, and reduces swelling. Braised together, the dish supports the spleen and leaches dampness for chronic liver disease with mild fluid retention.

Effects & uses

For chronic hepatitis or cirrhotic ascites with leg edema, scanty urination, and abdominal distension (syndrome differentiation required; severe cases need medical care).

Method

  1. Rinse adzuki beans and soak 2 hours.
  2. Scale, gut, and rinse the carp.
  3. Place beans and fish in a pot with ginger, scallion, and water; braise until beans and fish are fully cooked. Use little or no salt.

How to use

  • Drink the broth and eat fish and beans.

Caution

Not during acute hepatitis flares. Low salt is critical for edema; severe swelling requires medically supervised salt and fluid limits. Differs from the “adzuki carp soup” entry under edema in ingredient ratios and emphasis—do not treat as interchangeable. Strict alcohol abstinence. A daily food-care recipe; not a substitute for medication.
