Ingredients

  • Dried longan pulp 30g
  • Lotus seed 30g
  • Red jujube 20g (optional)
  • Rock sugar to taste

Principle

Longan tonifies heart and spleen and nourishes blood to calm the spirit; lotus seed nourishes heart and quiets the spirit and tonifies spleen to check diarrhea. Together they strengthen spleen, calm heart, and nourish blood—suited to heart–spleen deficiency with insufficient blood.

Effects & uses

For heart–spleen deficiency and blood insufficiency—insomnia, palpitations, forgetfulness, dizziness, fatigue; also for daily care in anemia, fatigue, and neurasthenia (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Soak lotus seeds, remove skin and green embryo; simmer with longan and jujube over high heat then low until lotus is soft; add rock sugar.

How to use

  • Drink the soup and eat lotus, longan, and jujube before bed; 1–2 times per week—not daily in large amounts.

Caution

Avoid with phlegm-fire or damp stagnation and poor digestion; avoid longan in pregnancy (especially early pregnancy); not for diabetes, excess fire, common cold, or heavy menstrual flow. Seek care for chronic insomnia and palpitations. Not a substitute for medication.
