Ingredients

  • Astragalus 10g
  • Codonopsis 10g

Principle

Astragalus tonifies qi, raises yang, and stabilizes the exterior; codonopsis tonifies spleen qi, nourishes blood, and generates fluids—its neutral nature moderates astragalus’s slight warmth. Together they tonify spleen and lung and raise middle yang with a mild character (syndrome differentiation required).

Effects & uses

Daily tea when qi and blood are insufficient with lung–spleen qi deficiency—fatigue, short breath, lazy speech, poor appetite with bloating, frequent colds, and profuse sweating. Public sources also mention immune support and hematopoietic adjunct for the weak and cold-prone (syndrome differentiation required). Coronary disease and similar conditions require standard treatment—this drink is adjunct only.

Method

  1. Rinse astragalus and codonopsis; scald briefly with boiling water.
  2. Add 500–1000 ml water in a wellness kettle or pot; boil then simmer 10–30 minutes—or steep in boiling water 10 minutes.
  3. May re-decoct or continue steeping as tea.

How to use

  • Drink warm as tea, one serving daily; 3–4 days per week is enough—not necessary every day. Stop or reduce when symptoms improve.

Caution

Not during common cold with fever. Not for excess fire or damp-heat constitution. Not recommended for hypertension. Codonopsis is incompatible with veratrum (li lu). Not for pregnancy, lactation, or infants (per food-medicine substance notices). Avoid long-term excess (may cause heat signs); single dose astragalus plus codonopsis should not exceed 30g total. A daily food-care recipe; not a substitute for medication.
