Ingredients

  • Astragalus 15g
  • Chinese yam 30g
  • Japonica rice 50g

Principle

Astragalus tonifies qi, strengthens spleen, and stabilizes the exterior; Chinese yam tonifies spleen and lung, secures kidney, and enriches essence. Cooked as congee to strengthen spleen and lung, tonify qi, and consolidate root—suited as staple care for chronic hepatitis with spleen–lung qi deficiency.

Effects & uses

For chronic hepatitis with fatigue, short breath, poor appetite, and loose-tending stools (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Decoct astragalus in water and strain the liquid.
  2. Peel and chunk yam; cook rice in the astragalus decoction to a thick congee.

How to use

  • Eat warm as breakfast or part of the main meal; count toward daily staple intake.

Caution

Not for acute hepatitis or internal damp-heat excess. Strict alcohol abstinence. A daily food-care recipe; not a substitute for medication.
