Ingredients

  • Astragalus 5–15g
  • Goji berries 10–20g

Principle

Astragalus is slightly warm—tonifies qi, stabilizes the exterior, strengthens spleen, and raises yang; goji is neutral—tonifies liver and kidney, enriches essence, and benefits the eyes. Together they tonify qi and nourish yin so qi tonification is less drying and nourishment more complete.

Effects & uses

For weakness with qi deficiency plus liver–kidney insufficiency—fatigue, pale face, dizziness, mental exhaustion, palpitations, insomnia, dry eyes, sore weak lower back; also cited for adjunct immune support, lipids and glucose, and fatigue relief (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Rinse astragalus and goji; place in a cup.
  2. Pour boiling water and steep about 10 minutes.
  3. Re-steep until flavor fades; goji may be chewed.

How to use

  • Drink as tea; start with smaller doses for daily care.

Caution

Not during common cold. Not for damp-heat constitution or febrile illness. Yin deficiency with fire (easy flushing, dry mouth, dry stools)—may add ophiopogon to harmonize. Avoid excessive dose to prevent nosebleed, dry mouth, or constipation. A daily food-care recipe; not a substitute for medication.
