Ingredients

  • Corn silk 30g
  • Dandelion 30g
  • Artemisia capillaris (yinchen) 30g
  • White sugar to taste

Principle

Corn silk promotes urination, reduces jaundice, and benefits the gallbladder; dandelion clears heat, resolves toxins, reduces swelling, and dissipates nodules; yinchen clears damp-heat and benefits the gallbladder. Together they clear heat and benefit the gallbladder. From Dietary Therapy for Common Diseases.

Effects & uses

Daily adjunct for cholecystitis or gallstones with fever and pain (syndrome differentiation required); corn silk is also used as a gallstone tea substitute (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Rinse the three herbs, decoct about 1000 ml in a clay pot, strain, and add sugar.

How to use

  • Drink as a tea substitute.

Caution

Not for weak spleen-stomach with easy diarrhea. Not a substitute for medication. Large stones or recurrent colic require medical care. Benefiting the gallbladder is not the same as expelling stones. Daily food-care formula only.
