Ingredients

  • Honeysuckle 15g
  • Dandelion 15–30g (dried; fresh 60–100g)
  • Rock sugar or honey to taste (optional)

Principle

Honeysuckle clears heat, resolves toxins, and disperses wind-heat; dandelion clears heat, resolves toxins, reduces swelling, dissipates nodules, and promotes urination to free stranguria. Combined heat-clearing is stronger; may assist damp-heat downward pouring–type urethritis (syndrome differentiation required). Sources also note heat-toxin patterns such as breast abscess.

Effects & uses

Adjunct for damp-heat urethritis; also cited for sore throat and mouth sores with heat-toxin (syndrome differentiation required). Acute urethritis should be treated primarily with antibiotics.

Method

  1. Rinse herbs, add about 600 ml water, boil then simmer 10–15 minutes and strain; or steep in boiling water 10–15 minutes.
  2. Season with rock sugar or honey if desired.

How to use

  • Drink warm as tea, one dose per day in 2–3 servings. Stop when symptoms ease; avoid long continuous use.

Caution

Contraindicated for deficient cold spleen-stomach. Not for pregnancy or menstruation. Excess dandelion may loosen stools; avoid long-term large amounts. Not a substitute for medication. Daily food-care formula only.
