Ingredients

  • Poria (fuling) 15 g
  • Coix seed (yiyiren) 30 g
  • Rice 50 g

Principle

Poria strengthens the spleen and percolates damp; coix strengthens the spleen and drains damp. Targets the recovery-phase constitution of spleen deficiency with damp excess when effusion recurs (syndrome differentiation required).

Effects & uses

For the recovery phase when the body feels heavy, the tongue coating is white and greasy, and effusion keeps returning without fully clearing.

Method

  1. Rinse poria and coix; cook with rice into congee.

How to use

  • Eat warm as breakfast or part of a main meal.

Caution

Use coix cautiously in pregnancy. Cold-damp obstruction pattern may need warming, unblocking approaches in parallel (pattern required). Does not replace treatment aimed at synovitis or the primary disease. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
