Ingredients

  • Dried hawthorn slices 5–6 pieces
  • Tangerine peel (chenpi) 1 small piece

Principle

Hawthorn excels at resolving greasy meat stagnation; modern research suggests lipid-lowering effects; chenpi regulates qi, strengthens spleen, dries dampness, and transforms phlegm. Both are food-medicine homologues—steep after meals to aid digestion, resolve food stagnation, regulate qi, and support lipid metabolism.

Effects & uses

Suitable for fatty liver after greasy meals—epigastric distension, poor appetite, sluggish bowels (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Rinse hawthorn and chenpi.
  2. Place in a cup; pour boiling water; cover and steep 10 minutes.

How to use

  • Drink after meals as tea; may re-steep.

Caution

Drink less if prone to excess stomach acid or heartburn. Not suitable in pregnancy. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
