Ingredients

  • Ginkgo nut (bai guo ren) 100g
  • Sweet apricot kernel 100g
  • Walnut kernel 200g
  • Peanut kernel 200g

Ginkgo constrains lung and stabilizes wheezing; sweet apricot kernel moistens lung and stops cough; walnut warms and tonifies lung-kidney; peanut moistens lung and harmonizes stomach. The four seeds together tonify kidney, moisten lung, and receive qi to calm wheezing.

Effects & uses

Suitable during remission of chronic bronchitis with shortness of breath, fatigue, prolonged cough with wheezing, and scant thin white sputum (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Grind ginkgo, sweet apricot kernel, walnut, and peanut into powder and mix evenly.
  2. Beat egg without shell; steam with water into a small bowl of custard.
  3. Each time add 20g four-seed powder to the custard, stir, and eat.

How to use

  • Each morning use 20g four-seed powder with 1 egg, cook one small bowl; public sources describe half a year of continuous use—requires physician guidance.

Caution

Raw ginkgo is toxic—must be cooked and not overdosed. Not suitable during acute attack or when phlegm-heat is congested. Not a substitute for medication.
