Ingredients

  • Perilla seed (su zi) 15g
  • Hemp seed (ma zi ren) 15g
  • Japonica rice 50g

Principle

Perilla seed descends lung qi; lung and large intestine are interior-exterior related, so descending lung qi helps bowel qi move; hemp seed is moist and lubricates the intestines for gentle relief. Together they open lung closure and moisten intestinal dryness.

Effects & uses

Suitable for qi-type constipation—urge to defecate but difficulty, distension, belching (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Wash perilla and hemp seeds; grind to fine powder.
  2. Grind again with water; strain off residue.
  3. Cook japonica rice into congee with the strained liquid.

How to use

  • Take 1–2 times daily morning and evening.

Caution

Not suitable when diarrhea is present. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
