Corn Silk and Mulberry Leaf Tea
Ingredients
- Dried corn silk 10g
- Dried mulberry leaf 10g
- Tea leaves 5g (optional, green or black)
Principle
Corn silk is neutral and sweet—promotes urination, clears liver and gallbladder; mulberry leaf is cold—disperses wind-heat, moistens lung and dryness, calms liver and brightens eyes. Together they clear heat, promote urination, calm liver, and moisten dryness—adjunct for dry mouth and scanty dark urine with damp-heat and liver heat bias.
Effects & uses
Daily adjunct for damp-heat constitution or liver heat bias—dry mouth and polydipsia, yellow scanty urine, mild limb swelling; mainly adjunct tea for prediabetes or mild diabetes (syndrome differentiation required; cannot replace hypoglycemic drugs). Also consider comprehensive differentiation if blood pressure or lipids are elevated.
Method
- Rinse corn silk; place with mulberry leaf and tea in cup.
- Pour 250 ml boiling water, cover, steep 5 minutes.
- May re-steep until flavor fades.
How to use
- Tea substitute before or after meals. Continuous use suggested not more than two weeks, then pause; start small for daily care (other sources cite corn silk 5–15g).
Caution
Use cautiously with spleen-stomach deficiency-cold, diarrhea, or aversion to cold (mulberry leaf is cold). Hypoglycemia and hypotension—use carefully. Pregnant and special-condition patients consult a physician first. Diabetics must not stop prescribed drugs; monitor glucose as directed. Daily dietary prescription; not a substitute for medication.
