Ingredients

  • Spiny jujube seed 10g
  • Ophiopogon (maidong) 3g
  • Polygala (yuanzhi) 3g

Principle

Spiny jujube seed nourishes the heart and calms the spirit; ophiopogon nourishes yin and clears the heart; polygala calms the spirit, benefits intelligence, and connects heart and kidney. The three herbs nourish yin, generate fluids, and quiet the heart—suited to yin deficiency with internal heat and heart-kidney disconnection.

Effects & uses

Suitable for yin-deficiency insomnia with restlessness, dry mouth, difficulty falling asleep, and many dreams (syndrome differentiation required).

Method

  1. Decoct herbs in water 20 minutes.

How to use

  • Take warm before bed.

Caution

Use with caution in spleen-stomach deficiency-cold and phlegm-dampness; polygala may irritate the stomach—not suitable for gastric ulcer. Not a substitute for medication.
