Yam and Red Bean Congee
Ingredients
- Yam 20g (peeled, small cubes)
- Red bean (adzuki) 15g (soak 1 hour ahead)
- Rice 50g
Principle
Yam tonifies spleen and lung; red bean (chi xiao dou) promotes urination and drains dampness. Cooked with rice, it strengthens spleen and dispels damp—suitable as breakfast for daily fatty liver care.
Effects & uses
Suitable for fatty liver with spleen deficiency and damp excess—fatigue, heaviness, poor appetite (syndrome differentiation required).
Method
- Soak red beans 1 hour.
- Peel yam and cut into cubes.
- Combine all ingredients; simmer 30 minutes until thick.
How to use
- Eat in the morning as breakfast; count congee toward daily staple intake.
Caution
Rice contains starch—include in total staples. Avoid excess red beans if frequent urination. Daily dietary food care is not a substitute for medication.
